"I meet every student where they are and work on positive growth based on their goals and interests. I focus on strong fundamentals and technique as a way to unlock creative and expressive potential, and to allow students the ability to explore their own artistic ambitions."

Teaching

I teach clarinet, bass clarinet, and composition to students of all ages and ability levels from beginner to advanced. I maintain an active studio in New York ranging from elementary school through undergraduate students that have successfully auditioned for honor bands, solo and ensemble, Mannes Prep, arts scholarships. As an active performer and educator, I incorporate technology, a wide array of musical styles, and easy to understand fundamental technique into my instruction. I teach both in person and online, using high-tech audio and video equipment to bring an experienced and rewarding lesson experience.

As the clarinetist and Artistic Director of Unheard-of//Ensemble, I teach clarinetists in master classes and guest workshops around the United States. In the past year, I have been a solo artist and clinician for Heidelberg University and University of Wyoming’s Single Reed Days. Unheard-of Ensemble visited University of Florida, Georgia State University, and Columbus State University working with both music performance students and composers. I have taught in New York for ten years and have presented master classes as a guest artist for universities in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and Tennessee. I have also previously taught group clarinet lessons at Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School to middle and high school students, a number of music programs across the city, and undergraduate clarinet lessons at Stony Brook university.

While at Manhattan School of Music, I taught through the Distance Learning program (online instruction) as well as substitute teaching in theory and ear training classes at MSM precollege. I currently teach both in person and online using a high-quality microphone setup and camera setup for lessons to allow for clear audio and video in my instruction.
